Beer type: Amber Ale
Alcohol Level: 5.5%
Brewed By: Ballast Point
This weekend I got the chance to go to the new Ballast Point Brewery in Chicago. Not only did I grab a beer, but I tried some food and needless to say, it was up to the Chicago West Loop standard.
Ballast Point makes a great variety of beers and they’re known for their signature Sculpin IPA, but I decided to go for a classic amber ale. Its official title is the California Amber. It had a beautiful, classic red color to it. It had a sweet aroma to it as well. The taste was rich and malty with a mildly bitter aftertaste. If you like amber ales, this is definitely one to try.
Overall, this was a good beer and if you’re in the Fulton Market/West Loop area in Chicago you should grab a drink and appetizer at Ballast Point.
